Justin Thomas has got in Jim “Bones” Mackay as his full-time caddie. Mackay was an on-course reporter for NBC Sports and Golf Channel for around four years. However, he has now switched back to his original career as a caddie for Justin Thomas. Moreover, before turning a reporter, Jim Mackay was with Phil Mickelson as his caddie for around 25 years.
However, Mackay will continue to work as an on-course reporter for NBC Sports and Golf Channel whenever his schedule allows. Jim will be replacing Jimmy Johnson, who was the most experienced and highest-paid caddie on Tour.

“It was an incredible phone call,” says Jim Mackay
Jim Mackay told Golf Channel about his decision and said. “It came out of left field very recently. I have just tremendous respect for [Thomas] as a person and a player. It was an incredible phone call to get, and I said yes.”
Jim Mackay has also caddied for Justin Thomas before and has been with JT for around three events so far. Firstly, at the 2018 Sony Open when his regular caddie Jimmy Johnson was injured, and then once again in 2020 when Johnson was injured during the Memorial and WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.
Moreover, their combination seems to work pretty well together as they have previously won an event together. Mackay helped JT in lifting his first win of the 2020 season as he won the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational by three strokes at TPC Southwind.

Bones was a pretty solid reporter but I'm not surprised he's going back to caddying. I always figured he'd bite the bullet and go back to someone's bag. Glad to hear it's JT too!
