Collin Morikawa is one of the best golfers on the PGA Tour. He has already won five PGA Tours and two major championships in his career so far. Notably, he finished the 2021 European Tour season on a high note as well. He won the DP World Tour Championship and also secured the Race to Dubai title a couple of weeks ago in Dubai.
Currently, Collin is at the Hero World Challenge, his last event for the year. With a win this week, he can overtake Jon Rahm as the World No.1 for a while on the OWGR. However, things escalated a bit in his pre-round press conference, where he expressed his views on the Super Golf League.

Collin Morikawa wants the game to grow
During the pre-round press conference on Wednesday, a reporter asked Collin Morikawa about his views on the rumored super golf league. To which, Morikawa said, “You know, look, I’m 24, and I’m keeping all eyes and ears open to everything. But the PGA Tour has been the focal point of my entire career, right? You grew up watching the PGA Tour, you grew up watching guys like Tiger and Rory just dominate the game, and that’s what you want to do, you come out here and win.”

However, he also said that the intention is to grow the game and not keep it limited to the U.S. market. He wants to make golf a global sport, and for that, Collin said he wants to create an impact. “I think you look at guys like Tiger, who’s done his entire career pretty much on the PGA Tour, and he’s made that impact, right?”
Morikawa answered numerous questions about the rumored super golf league but this portion was interesting, "When it comes to Saudi, when it comes to the PGA Tour, I think the underlying message that everyone needs to realize is we're here to grow the game."

“At 24, it’s thinking how do I make that impact in five years, in ten years. But even, you know, in a month or a year? How do you make that impact so young? So, look, when it comes to Saudi, when it comes to the PGA Tour, I think the underlying message that everyone needs to realize is we are here to grow the game,” he added.
Golf world reacts to Collin Morikawa’s comments on the Saudi league
Following his comments, golf fans weren’t happy. Taking to Twitter, they expressed their disappointment with his take on the super golf league.
That's a scary excuse to take KSA blood money. Since when is the Tour's mission to "grow the game" & who cares if it grows in KSA? It exists to grow the wallets of its members, which is fine. I think CM is sincere in wanting to GTG, but this doesn't cut it.

'All we're trying to do is grow the game'. For goodness sake, do they take us for utter fools?!

If were truly about growing the game it wouldn’t take millions of $ to assemble a field. I’d have more respect if he came out and reiterated he’s a contractor entitled to play wherever he wants for his own personal gain.

@collin_morikawa mate, just be honest, we don't actually mind if you are
This has nothing to do with "growing the game"
Play the French, South African, Kenyan if that's your goals.
Or
Just say "it is what it is"#money #oil

I have no problem with the guys playing in Saudi, but this grow the game rhetoric is getting ridiculous https://t.co/rIFhvuLozJ

Notable quotes from Collin today. I've seen some negative responses, wouldn't be surprised to see him elaborate on these answers in a future interview
Read into it how you will – personally I'd wait for something to actually happen before forming any opinions. https://t.co/DylsyGukHW
