For those who thought the Premier Golf League shut its doors, check again! For those who are unaware of the idea, it is a breakaway tour that is aiming to lure players from the PGA Tour and the European version of it. The PGL is once again back with business, and players like Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Rickie Fowler, and Justin Rose have been offered multi-million dollar contracts to sign with them.
There are skeptical thoughts everywhere. Golf as we know will never be the same if the proposed superleague comes into existence. The best players in the world will then compete in a separate league which is currently being looked at as rivals.

Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau to join the Premier Golf League?
British media house ‘The Telegraph’ published a report this week that gave fans a cause for concern. The article mentioned that several top players were approached by the Premier Golf League to sign for them.
There was no anonymity and players like Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott, Brooks Koepka, Rickie Fowler, and Justin Rose were all mentioned. The new tour is all about the money that is involved, and it was reported that the numbers in the discussion were between $30-50million.

The contract offers are staggering and the PGA Tour is certainly under threat now. The Premier Golf League once knocked on the doors in 2020, but it never picked up. However, the tour which is powered by a group of Saudi Arabian investors in gaining all the attention once again.
The league also has an official Twitter handle where one can find the required information about how it will operate. There will be 48 players who will participate in 18 events spread across the calendar.
Lucrative prize purses will be the highlight of every event, and the league has also proposed a season-ending team championship as well as an individual championship. Players will be guaranteed their money and the Premier Golf League is expected to start from 2022.

The Premier Golf League is valued at $1 billion
If you’re offering contracts in the $30M range to every player in the league, then it is no surprise. An anonymous agent informed Golfweek that “the money is there” and that he heard $1billion for real.
The new league will definitely face mixed welcomes if it becomes official. The top players will also be scrutinized over their actions as the PGA Tour just announced a $40 million bonus pool to the ten most “impactful players.”
