The 3M Open 2021 is currently the center of attraction on the PGA Tour. The tournament is taking place at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota, and World No. 2 Dustin Johnson entered the event as the highest-ranked player on the field. But did Johnson play well enough to make the 36-hole cut?

The TPC Twin Cities layout has been favoring the golfers and we saw several low scores at the 3M Open 2021. However, it did+n’t play out the same way for everyone. For instance, 24-time PGA Tour winner Dustin Johnson struggled to get going in the opening two rounds.

The cut line at the 3M Open was set at 2-under-par for a total of 65 players (including ties). This is considered a good cut-line limit and it denotes that the course has been suiting the golfers in the opening 36-holes.

A lot of notable names eased into the weekend, but Dustin Johnson did not face the same fate. Johnson struggled to find his game at TPC Twin Cities and stood at even-par on the leaderboard after two rounds.

As a result, the former World No. 1 was eliminated from the 3M Open 2021. Johnson will not participate in the weekend as a result of his sub-par performance in the tournament. His scorecard was not enough to take him through to another 36-holes at TPC Twin Cities.

This marked Johnson’s first missed cut since the 2021 PGA Championship. This is also just the third cut in 17 starts for DJ this season.

TPC Twin Cities is a pretty straightforward course. If you hit a good tee shot, you’ll find the fairway and end up with a good approach. Inversely, a bad drive will send the ball into tricky areas and make things complicated.

The 2020 Masters tournament winner was good with his approach shots in the opening rounds, but driving and putting mistakes did not allow him to post a low score. He shot 1-under in Round 1 and then 1-over in the subsequent round.
