The 2022 Phoenix Open witnessed many things. Sam Ryder shooting the hole-in-one, people throwing beer cans to the golf course, and above all, the mood changes of Charley Hoffman. The golfer had been in a fit with the PGA Tour from the very beginning of the tournament. However, a new social media post of him seems that he wants to call a truce with the golf authority.

Charley Hoffman wants to clean up the mess at the Phoenix Open!

No! Charley was not talking about the beer cans at the TPC Scottsdale. He was clearly indicating the social media post he posted a day before. In the new post, Hoffman was trying to make amendments with the PGA Tour.

He captioned the post: “Well it looks like I have some trash to clean up after last night’s rant! #greenestshowongrass @wmphoenixopen I have nothing but respect for the @pgatour! Sometimes you have to use a platform to make a point so the PGA Tour can continue to be the best place to play professional golf in the world!”

What had happened between Hoffman and the PGA Tour?

Recently, the golfer found himself in the limelight after he called out PGA for making silly penalty rules. While Charley was making a drop at the 13th hole at Phoenix Open, his ball rolled down and went into the water. This resulted in another penalty. The golfer was furious at the PGA for making such a penalty even though he didn’t make any foul.

Hoffman showed his anger through a social media post in which he said the main reason the players are leaving the Tour is because of such rules. He even tagged the Saudi League in the post to make his point. Notably, Hoffman is one of the four Player Directors on the Tour’s Player Advisory Council.

It was an emotional roller coaster for Hoffman. A penalty for some fault he didn’t commit made him angry. As a result, he wrote many things online that he couldn’t take back. However, the golfer regrets the way he reacted now. Although he stands by what he said, he could have gone straight to the organization rather than sharing everything with the public.
