The 2022 Honda Classic is like a Koepka family event. Brooks Koepka and Chase Koepka would be playing at the PGA National golf course. However, the former World No. 1 and the eldest don’t particularly like the idea of them both playing in the same group in the tournament.

“It would make my family’s life a lot easier,” said Brooks. He explained that it is the only advantage of playing with his sibling. He said, “My mom probably won’t even watch me or my dad won’t watch me, they’ll probably just go watch him.”

Florida is Brooks’ home state. The highlight of playing there, according to him, is that his friends would watch him and support him. He further added that since he and Chase have the same friends group, the friends have a lot of work.

Jokes aside, Brooks doesn’t like to play with Chase in the same round for his sake. He said, “I think he’d be more worried… I’d rather see him do his own thing.” Brooks explained that they don’t get to play together that much. And his brother would get worried if they were in the same group.

Chase had played the Honda Classic last year. He was tied for the 30th position with two other golfers with a total score of 1-under par.

Relationship of Brooks Koepka with the Honda Classic

The Koepka brothers grew up playing golf. Both of them used to come and watch the Honda Classic when they were little. According to Chase, the tournament was the first time they watched professional golf and dreamed of turning into one.

Brooks has been the world no. 1 and won eight PGA Tour titles, including four major championships. He has won the U. S. Open and the PGA Championship twice. Under the PGA tour, Brooks has even won the Waste Management Phoenix Open twice in his career. However, the dream of winning an official tournament at his home ground has not yet been fulfilled.

He has never won the Honda Classic. Brooks secured a tie at second place at the 2019 Honda Classic with Rickie Fowler. That was as close he got to the title.
