A few weeks ago, Xander Schauffele took home the Olympic gold medal in men’s golf. It was an unforgettable moment for the 27-year-old American icon, as he won in the country his mother grew up in. Adding to that, he completed his father’s dream of winning an Olympic medal – which came to an end after a car accident.

In an interview with Golf Digest, Schauffele spoke about how he felt. “To have my dad here as well is really special,” Schauffele said. “I gave him a hug off the back of the green there. I know this means a lot to him, so I’m just happy to sort of deliver this”.

That being said, Stefan Schauffele seems to have taken his son’s gold medal – with no intention of returning it to the golfer.

Will Xander Schauflele get his gold medal?

“I might never give this one back to you!” Stefan wrote on Twitter, tagging his son. He posed shirtless by the pool, pointing at the medal around his neck.

Of course, Xander had to reply on Twitter. “I should’ve seen this coming,” he wrote, adding a facepalm emoji for the much-needed dramatic effect.

Fans seemed to adore the light-hearted moment between the two. Most replied to the tweet, enjoying the father-son interaction. “This is definitely more of Xander Schauffele’s dad than I expected to see this morning,” one fan wrote in the replies, clearly surprised by the pose. Some joked around and commented on the pool, while others reacted with gifs and memes.

Xander even spoke to the media about it, adding how his “pops” has it, and he is unable to get it off him right now. Right after a media appearance, his dad apparently called back and asked for the medal.
