PGA Tour increases the purse of the Players Championship
The PGA Tour has informed players that the purse for next year’s Players Championship is increased to $20 million. Hence, it is the most money in a single-stroke-play tournament. Moreover, this increase in the purse of the Players Championship has left the four major championships way behind.

Furthermore, the projected prize fund for the entire Japan Tour is approximately $24.5 million. Hence, only a single event on the PGA Tour is almost equivalent to the whole Japanese Tour.
Meanwhile, previously, the winner of the Players Championship usually got around $2.7 million. However, from the 2022 Player Championship, the winner will reportedly earn $3.6 million.

Furthermore, the only higher payout on the PGA Tour than this is the FedExCup playoffs. This year-end championship has around $60 million in the purse, out of which they distribute $46 million to the top 30 players who compete in the finale at East Lake, while the winner receives a whopping $15 million.

Moreover, according to a few reports, players will also receive $50,000 for playing at least 15 events in this season. Additionally, the PGA Tour is also awarding a $40 million bonus for ten players who increase the publicity and engagement of the sport.
