The PGA National Resort’s Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens will host the event like every year. This course, one of the difficult ones on the PGA Tour, has been hosting the Classic since 2007.

Since big events like Arnold Palmer Invitational will begin next week, many top golfers have chosen to take a rest this week. However, as the field will have golfers like Brooks Koepka, Henrik Stenson, and Patrick Reed, the competition would be fierce.
The purse money of the tournament
The purse money of the 2022 Honda Classic is $8 million. This is a $1 million increase from last year. For the first prize winner, the payout will be $1,440,000. All golfers who finish four rounds of the competition will receive prize money.
While the prize money is the highlight of the tournament, there are some other benefits that only the winner gets. The champion will earn 500 FedEx points and 50 OWGR points.

The winner will directly qualify for the 2022 Masters, the PGA Championship, and the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions. He will also get exemptions for two more seasons on the PGA Tour.
Last year, Australian golfer Matt Jones won the championship with a total score of 12-under par. He was five strokes ahead of Brandon Hagy who took second with a 7-under par.

Given the relatively sparse field, it would be fun to watch whether Matt Jones can defend his title this year. However, it will be tough to defend one’s title here since only four, including Jack Nicklaus, have ever done that.
