The 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational began on the 3rd of March and will end on the 6th. As always, the Bay Hills Golf Course is hosting the event. The event was renamed the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2007 as the designing company of Palmer redesigned the course in 1989.
Although defending champion Bryson DeChambeau is not attending the API this year due to health issues, more than 30 of the World’s top 50 are competing. As one can expect, winning the competition would be tough.
The purse money of the tournament
The purse money of the Arnold Palmer Invitational of 2022 is $12 million. The champion would bag the $2,160,000 out of the purse money, which is the standard 18 percent payout according to the PGA Tour’s prize money distribution chart. The rest of the money will be distributed among all the players who finish the final round.
After the second round, the 2022 API has made a cut for the top 63 rankings and ties. The rising star Viktor Hovland currently tops the leaderboard with an overall score of 9-under 135. Meanwhile, golfers like Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Max Homa, and Rickie Fowler have been included in the top 20.

The prize money is the biggest highlight of the tournament. However, there are other benefits that only the champion would receive for winning the API. The winner will receive 550 FedEx points as well as 64 Official World Golf Ranking points, along with the money. He will also qualify for the 2022 Masters and PGA Championship and 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions.
