The PGA Tour Champions is a senior event on the PGA Tour. Meanwhile, the qualification process for the senior tour is slightly different. In general, players who have finished in the top-50 in the previous season and top 70 of the all-time money list from PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions get a chance to compete in these events. However, the minimum age limit to qualify is 50. 

Meanwhile, there are quite a few myths and misunderstandings about the senior tour. Hence, recently, Jim Furyk, one of the prominent names in the golf world who is also competing on the PGA Tour Champions, addressed this issue. So let us see what exactly he has said.

Jim Furyk breaks the misconception about the PGA Tour Champions 

Many people believe that players on the senior tour don’t work on their game. They just have a few drinks and go out there for an 18 hole round. However, that’s not the case, as Jim Furyk explained, that players do put in work, especially those who are successful.

“There’s a misconception the guys here are hanging around having a beer and a glass of wine. The guys who are successful. The guys who are playing really well out here are putting their time in,” said Furyk

He said there are a lot of guys out on the range and chipping green trying to improve and work on their game. Moreover, he said, to have longevity, you need to put in hard work.

“In order to have that longevity like Bernhard [Langer] does, you know… No.1, you have to be super talented. No.2, you have to have that mental fortitude and that driver and that willingness to put the work in,” concluded Jim.

Meanwhile, Jim Furyk is currently competing in the Timbertech Championship. And this is the final event before the ultimate Charles Schwab Cup Championship next week. Hence, during the pre-round press conference, he addressed this misconception and showed how much hard work players still put in on the PGA Tour Champions.
