Kamaru Usman is the current UFC welterweight champion and will defend his title at UFC 268. He is going to face Colby Covington in a rematch of UFC 245. While both men are confident of securing a win over the other, another fighter is certain he can beat both ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ and ‘Chaos’. This fighter’s name is Ray Cooper III.

Cooper’s confidence comes from winning the welterweight title against Magomed Magomedkerimov last month. Before meeting Magomedkerimov in the finals, he beat former UFC fighter and Bellator champion Rory Macdonald. This was his second PFL Championship win.

In a chat with MMA Junkie Radio, when asked if he could hold his own against Usman and Covington, he said, “Yeah, of course. Those two guys I guarantee I can beat, especially Colby Covington. I think I’d run him over. Kamaru Usman is a great champion, but I think I’m the best. I can stand and I can trade and I can grapple.”

“I don’t think anybody has pushed Usman like I will. I think I would put the pressure on him, and I would knock him out. His hands are nothing spectacular. I think everybody is just afraid of his wrestling because he’s a great wrestler. But I ain’t afraid of his wrestling–I can take him down,” he added.

‘Bradda Boy’ also hopes that one-day champions from different organizations could face each other.

Can we see Ray Cooper III in the UFC?

Cooper is a popular fighter and is currently in an impressive run-off form. He is on a six-fight win streak and just won his second consecutive million-dollar championship. PFL President Ray Sefo believes Cooper is the best welterweight in the world. However, he shut down any talks of him leaving the organization.
