Arsenal confirmed the much awaited news of Gabriel Paulista joining the team. He was bought in from Villarreal for about £11m with the effect of Joel Campbell moving to the latter on loan for the rest of the season.
Paulista, 24, primarily plays at the centre-back position but can also handle the right and the left back, hence showcasing his versatility. Since the departure of Belgian, Thomas Vermalen, Arsenal lacked a defensive cover, which the Brazilian will now provide.
It was rumoured that Gabriel might find it difficult to get a work permit since he is yet to debut for his country. However, the problem has been resolved by the Arsenal officials and he is now expected to make his Arsenal Debut on Sunday against Aston Villa.
Quoting him: “IT WAS MY DREAM TO PLAY IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE. THE FANS CAN EXPECT A GABRIEL THAT ON THE FIELD HAS A LOT OF WILL TO BE ABLE TO HELP THE TEAM WIN IMPORTANT THINGS.”
