American star Serena Williams has been one of the best players in the history of tennis. This is why she has often played at the Centre Court of most events. In a recent talk with Natalie Portman, Serena revealed that she tries to allow other women’s tennis players to play on that court.

Serena Williams On Playing On Centre Court

In a recent chat, Serena Williams talked about the coverage that men’s sports get. She talked about how match schedules always have more men’s matches than women’s matches and that she is usually on the Centre Court. She isn’t too keen on this and said,

“I literally say, ‘Just put me on the 2nd court so we can have other players go on Centre Court’ and obviously that doesn’t go well with the tournament. I’m like, ‘These other women really need a chance and they deserve it, they’ve been working literally their whole lives and you guys are just giving them 2 matches.'”

Serena went on to say that every year, she brings the same argument to each event. She said that she does this so that there can be some change in the way things work. Since she clearly wants this reform, we can expect her to have the same stance at this year’s events.

While Serena might be eager to bring about some revisions, her main focus right now will be on training. Obviously so, since the WTA Tour is set to return after a long break due to the coronavirus pandemic. The American star naturally wants to achieve one of her biggest goals – winning her 24th Slam.

Should she succeed, Serena will equal the record for the Most Grand Slams, something she has been trying to do for the last couple of years. Her next opportunity to do this will be at the US Open and hopefully, she will win the title and realize her dream!
