The summer transfer window is turning out to be yet another action packed series of events with the Premier League in the center of it all. This time, Tottenham have hit the ground running in what seems to be a quick one in – one out situation that would revamp their striker department.

Yesterday, Spurs finally parted ways with Spanish striker Roberto Soldado after an unsuccessful 2-year spell with the club. The 30-year-old made his return to Spanish fooball by signing for Villarreal.

Although the striker had tough two years at the lane, he showed sportsmanship tweeting : “These two years have been difficult for me but I wouldn’t change this experience for anything in the world.”

This marked an end to his career in England and Tottenham were a man short up front with the Premier League well underway. Not for long though, as the Lilywhites completed the signing of Clinton Njie from Lyon, in what was Spurs’ fifth capture of the summer. The 22-year-old Cameroon International signed a five-year contract with the club.

The former Lyon man has been tipped for great things in future as was visible in the pre-season where scouts from many clubs came to see the then Lyon man playing in the Emirates Cup in London. It was also rumoured that Arsenal were chasing the 22-year-old but the player turned down the move in favour of moving to the other side of North-London.

What seemed to be a surprise at first was rather a phenomenally orchestrated turn of events for the Spurs faithful and the man with the strings is no one else but Daniel Levy who is known to be a shrewd operator at the club.

But only time will tell whether Njie would live up to the billing or will he be another Soldado in the making.
