ONE Championship put on a stacked card at ONE: First Strike- an event that took place in Kallang, Singapore on Friday. Featherweight supremacy was on the line as Giorgio ‘The Doctor’ Petrosyan took on Superbon for the inaugural ONE Championship Featherweight Kickboxing World Championship belt.
The fight was a dream matchup for fans as ‘The Doctor’ is widely regarded as one of the best kickboxers of all time. In Superbon, he found a worthy opponent to battle it out for featherweight gold. Both men went into the fight on the back of impressive win streaks.

While Superbon went into the fight on the back of an impressive 10-fight win streak, ‘The Doctor’ was looking to make it 20 wins on the trot.
Superbon makes history at ONE: First Strike
As many fans expected, the fight produced fireworks from the get-go. Both men came forward and tried to establish their game plan early on. While Petrosyan was the aggressor early on, Banchamek did a good job of evading the fireworks coming his way. Simultaneously, he also did a good job of landing body shots to the midsection, as he had predicted he would do.

The finishing sequence saw Superbon slip away from a left-hand Petrosyan was throwing his way. As soon as he slipped away from the punch, Superbon unleashed his own high kick that landed flush. As soon as the kick connected, Petrosyan hit the canvas, and the referee stepped in to call the fight.
With the win, Superbon not only became the inaugural ONE Championship Featherweight Kickboxing champion, but he also handed Petrosyan his first loss since 2013. Furthermore, he became only the second person to ever stop ‘The Doctor’. The victory also took Superbon’s record to an impressive 112-34.
