Teenage Muay Thai prodigy Anna ?Supergirl? Jaroonsak knows she has what it takes to fight her way to the top of ONE?s talent-laden atomweight kickboxing division. This Friday, at ONE Fight Night 13: Allazov vs. Grigorian on Prime Video, the Thai star will square off with Spaniard Lara Fernandez for her second kickboxing bout in ONE Championship.
Set to go down to live in U.S. primetime from the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, that showdown will come seven months after “Supergirl’s” first kickboxing appearance ? a narrow split decision loss to former two-sport queen Stamp Fairtex. The 19-year-old accepted that fight on just 24-hours? notice and, despite losing on two of the three judges? scorecards, proved she had the kickboxing skills to contend with the division’s elite.
“Supergirl” says that, even though she won her first two contests in ONE, it was the loss to Stamp that grew her confidence:

?After my first and the second fights, I still didn?t have confidence because it was such a huge stage, honestly, and I was not happy with my work then. But the most recent fight between Stamp and me, I grew more confident, even though I lost because I got to fight with someone with that much more experience! And I did well in that fight, too. So, I?m much more confident.?
In addition to building the Bangkok native?s confidence, it also showed her what skills she needs to refine if she wants to pursue gold in kickboxing, rather than Muay Thai.

?After fighting with Stamp, a former kickboxing champion, I gained more confidence, and I think I can do it too. If I keep practicing and change my Muay Thai style to kickboxing, there might be little things I need to figure out. ?I might unintentionally do elbow strikes or grab my opponent?s neck [in the clinch]. I?ll need to adjust to that. Also, I?ll need to improve my speed to fight in the kickboxing style.?
She?ll look to implement those changes this Friday against a former World Title challenger in Fernandez. If she can get past the Spaniard, ?Supergirl? knows she?ll be one massive step closer to a showdown with ONE Atomweight Kickboxing World Champion Janet Todd. And after sharing the Circle with Stamp for three action-packed rounds and losing by the narrowest of margins, she?s confident she has the skills to defeat the titleholder.
