“You Have To Call Me ‘Champ-Champ’ Now”: Regian Ersel Reveals His Motivation Behind Win Over Sinsamut Klinmee

Regian “The Immortal” Eersel did what he does best at ONE on Prime Video 3 this past Saturday, October 21 – decimate a rival with his striking genius en route to another victory inside the Circle.

The ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Champion added the inaugural lightweight Muay Thai crown to his collection with his win over Sinsamut Klinmee in the evening’s co-main event. But it didn’t come as easy as he would have liked.

Sinsamut was hell-bent on maintaining his perfect streak in the promotion by claiming his third finish in a row, and he found success with his dangerous striking in the earlier rounds.

ONE Championship: Ersel outmatched his opponent Sinsamut Klinmee

Once Eersel hit his stride, the Thai’s weapons couldn’t match up to the Dutch-Surinamese superstar’s output. After an intense 15-minute battle, “The Immortal’s” boxing combinations, trademark right hand, and chopping low kicks had done enough to convince two of the three judges that he was the better man, and he was awarded the split-decision win.

Though happy with the result, Eersel believes the fight was more clear-cut, and he is confident that he showcased why he deserves to sit proudly atop the lightweight Muay Thai division.

“It’s a little bit annoying, but it’s okay. You know, it’s Muay Thai. And a fight against a Thai fighter. And I fought in Asia, so it’s his hometown. But it’s okay. I got the win, that’s the most important thing. And I think I showed the world what I’m capable of,” he said.

Regian Ersel talked about his domination

“In my opinion, it wasn’t a close fight. If you saw the fight, I think the first two rounds; I was really testing him. And I think from the third, fourth, and fifth rounds; I put the pressure [on], and you saw his face at the end of the fight.” Despite his frustrations, the 29-year-old superstar sees a win as a win. His perfect record in ONE remains intact, as does his six-year unbeaten record.

Eersel’s immense skill set and hunger to compete will, undoubtedly see him competing for years to come. But, for the moment, his only focus is getting familiar with his new status.

“Two belts, it’s one of my life goals, and I did it. You have to call me ‘champ-champ’ now,” Eersel said.
