46-year-old Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson was once a feared fighter inside the Octagon. He recently appeared for a chat with famous podcaster Joe Rogan. While speaking to Rogan, the pair discussed the brilliance of ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon. Jackson pointed out that he was super impressed with the 26-year-old in his fight against Demetrious Johnson on March 28, 2022.
Rogan quickly agreed with him and said, ‘His name is Rodtang, He is a wild dude. He’s dangerous, (and) takes a crazy shot too. He’s got an iron chin‘. Jackson then pointed out how he followed him on TikTok and said, “He’s a wild dude. He’s tough. ONE Championship and its CEO Chatri Sityodtong are now planning to return to the United States later this year. Their next event is ONE 168: Denver, slated for the U.S. Primetime on September 6. One of the biggest questions for the fans is whether Rodtang would feature in the event or not. Rodtang has always been a fan favorite, mainly because of his exciting brand of fighting. He is also fairly active on social media and often shares his training clips for the fans to see. After an emphatic ONE 167 performance, fans now want to see him in action again in the upcoming event.

Rodtang put on a show for the fans in Denver the last time he appeared there. However, ONE CEO was quick to point out that he does have a plan for the champion. During the ONE 167 post-fight press conference, Sityodtong said: “There are a lot of moving parts.” He added, “But yes, if Rodtang isn’t fighting in Japan, then we’ll likely put him on the American card. Fans in America love Rodtang too.”

Being a champion of any sport comes with its own share of rivalry. Everyone wants to take you on to prove they are better than you. This is exactly what happened between Denis Puric and Rodtang. Puric made his debut in the ONE Championship in the year 2021. Since then, he has been calling out the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion to get into a fight with him. His wish was finally granted when he took on Rodtang in a kickboxing bout in last month’s ONE 167 event. Fans were super excited about the clash, and it delivered the fireworks it promised.
Rodtang proved that he was just as skilled at kickboxing as he was in Muay Thai. While the 39-year-old put up a valiant effort, “The Iron Man” proved to be as tough as advertised. The 26-year-old displayed high-level footwork and striking and was backed by his home crowd. Rodtang won the fight via a unanimous decision after he dominated his opponent for three rounds.
