Rising ONE Championship star Johan Ghazali is confident he’ll continue his dominant run against a veteran foe in his next bout. The Sarawak, Malaysia native is on a five-fight winning streak and seems like he is excited for his next clash as well. Ahead of his clash, the young fighter sat down with the media to break down the most important weapons of his opponent.
The teenage striking sensation is scheduled to take on Vietnamese star Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat in a flyweight Muay Thai battle at ONE 167: Tawanchai vs. Nattawut II inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday, June 7.

Ghazali has a pristine 5-0 record in the world’s largest martial arts organization and has quickly endeared himself to fans around the world with his tough and aggressive approach that is reminiscent of fan-favorite Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon.

Heading into his next match, Ghazali was as confident as ever when speaking to ONE about Duy Nhat.“I will say that he’s really versatile. He has everything. He has hands, he has elbows, he has knees, he has kicks. But the one thing that stands out is his head kicks,” he said.

He further added, “You know, I’ve seen him throw a few head kicks, and they can get dangerous. But I’ve prepared for it. I’m ready for it. So we should have an answer for whatever he throws. We’re ready.”
Fight preview: Duy Nhat vs. Ghazali
“No.1’s” versatile skills have helped him become a 5-time WMF World Champion and earn multiple medals for Vietnam in international tournaments. Upon his arrival in ONE back in 2019, he scored back-to-back knockouts to prove that he’s a force to be reckoned with in the flyweight Muay Thai division.

Unfortunately, the global pandemic halted Duy Nhat’s rapid rise, and he fell to a second-round knockout from Denis Puric when he returned at ONE Fight Night 17 last December. As a result, he will be hungry to get back to winning ways against Ghazali, and slowing the young gun’s ascent will be the cherry on top.
In contrast, “Jojo” will legitimately enter his name into the World Title conversation with a sixth win, and he will certainly take it upon himself to make it happen. With a combined six finishes in eight combined wins between the two competitors, fans shouldn’t blink when their bout goes down next week at ONE 167.
