When he’s not competing, De Ridder trains and manages his own gym, Combat Brothers, which he runs together with his coach, training partner, and close friend, Harun Ozkan. After collecting multiple accolades in his storied combat sports career, their gym is getting better known and is expanding in the Netherlands.

In an interview with ONE, he shared that they are also attracting top talents around the world to visit and train with them. “So all the good guys, once they reach a certain level, they hit us up and they come to us. So we have a lot of already high-level pros who will join us at a later stage in their career,” he said.

“But we have a couple of guys coming up now fighting their first few pro fights, as well, who really started with us. And they are doing pretty good, as well. So yeah, it’s cool.”

De Ridder said they instituted an open-door policy at Combat Brothers in order to attract more of the region’s top talents to train with them.

“The Dutch Knight” offers a warm welcome to whoever wishes to join his gym

The policy allows both visiting and in-house fighters could share their knowledge with each other for a mutually beneficial relationship. It also means the Breda native doesn’t have to leave home to train with the best.

“It’s cool that we have these times that we train with the pros. Everybody’s welcome. So whatever gym you represent, doesn’t matter. Just come and train with us. And it’s cool that I can have my training with world-class guys in my backyard, so I don’t have to travel. But I can get all the good guys coming to me, which is very nice,” said De Ridder.
