Superlek “The Kicking Machine” Kiatmoo9 could possibly be Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon’s most demanding test in ONE Championship. The longtime flyweight Muay Thai king certainly believes so too. The Thai strikers collide in the main event of ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video, a bout that will see Rodtang challenge for Superlek’s ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Title inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Despite relying heavily on his ultra-aggressive and power-punching game–a style that helped him spot a 13-0 run across Muay Thai and kickboxing bouts at the Singapore-based promotion–Rodtang feels that he will need to take a more calculated approach against a striker of Superlek’s caliber.

Rodtang Jitmuangnon wouldn’t mind switching styles if required

For context, Rodtang’s “art of eight limbs” style, Muay Mat, centers around heavy boxing combinations and aggressive fight styles. Superlek, a Muay Femur, often relies on his legs to outpoint opponents and score devastating knockouts. Given how the match should unfold, Rodtang shares that he will need to switch tactics if he wants to find some holes in his rival’s game when they meet this Friday, March 24.

Speaking to ONE Championship, the Jitmuangnon Gym athlete said, “I have to switch my style to be more of a technician. Or if my opponent tries to walk away from me, I will use my aggressive mode and chase him. The trick is to read your opponent first”.

“I think that’s because I have more experience. I’ve fought a lot, and I love to study my opponents ahead of time. So, no matter what my opponent will bring to me, I can adjust my game plan according to the situation. If they charge at me aggressively, I can’t fight them back with brute force.”

Despite his in-ring prowess and experience, the ONE star is unsure of how the fight will transpire.

Rodtang Jitmuangnon couldn’t predict the outcome of this evenly-matched bout

But while he is fired up to demolish one of the generational talents of Muay Thai today, Rodtang simply cannot predict a path to win–primarily due to the clash of styles. He added, “I can’t tell you how our match will turn out. Everyone will get the answer that day.”
