The Surinamese superstar has been untouchable in his ONE tenure so far. He has amassed nine wins from as many fights and gained two World Titles in kickboxing and Muay Thai.
Regian Eersel was motivated by the tough challenge Dimitry Menshikov would present
Given his dominance and status as king of the lightweight division in both sports, Eersel knows he has a target on his back, and he welcomes all comers in either striking art.
“For me, it doesn’t matter if it is Muay Thai or kickboxing, or both. Both sports are a challenge for me because I’m the champion. It’s important for me, and it’s a challenge for me to defend them both. Just to build my legacy, you know, so they’re both important for me, and I like both,” he told ONE Championship.
“The Immortal’s” upcoming opponent will be one of the most dangerous fighters he has ever stepped inside the ring with. Menshikov owns 19 knockouts in his 27 professional wins and is riding and incredible 11-fight win streak heading into his ONE debut. Instead of feeling intimidated by the Russian’s record, however, Eersel feels motivated to take on and put down such an impressive foe to add to his own jaw-dropping 21-fight streak of victories.

He credits Menshikov for his skill set and fight approach and looks forward to squaring off with him inside the ring at ONE Fight Night 11. “My thoughts are he is a very good fighter. He puts the pressure on a lot. He comes swinging with hooks. He has a lot of knockouts, so we’re going to put my name to the test once again. The better my opponent, the better version of me also. Yeah, I’m excited,” Eersel said.
Their match and the rest of ONE Fight Night 11 will be broadcast live and for free on Prime Video for fans across North America on June 9.
