“The Best Opportunity” – Alyse Anderson Shares Why She Couldn’t Turn Down Chance to Face Stamp Fairtex at ONE Fight Night 10

After leaving the ONE Championship Circle with a memorable win against promising star Asha Roka in her last outing, atomweight prospect Alyse “Lil’ Savage” Anderson was eager to take a step up in her next fight. But the American athlete didn’t expect to come up against #1-ranked contender Stamp Fairtex at ONE Championship’s on-ground U.S. debut event, ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III on Prime Video.

Though she had hoped to make it onto the historic card, scheduled for May 5 at Colorado’s 1st Bank Center, little did she envision that she would be facing the former two-sport ONE World Champion on the evening’s main card.

Alyse Anderson didn’t waste a second in accepting the bout with Stamp Fairtex

Despite her shock, Anderson recalls how she didn’t waste a second putting pen to paper when the contract was presented to her. She said, “I said yes right away. Because she’s the number one contender. I’m not ranked. I didn’t care at all. That’s a great opportunity. What better way to get in the rankings and to climb the rankings than to beat number one?”

“It’s like the best opportunity that you can get. So right away, I just loved the opportunity and said yes. And then it was, dealing with coaches, talking about elevation, and travel, and the camp, and once they sorted it all out, I just waited for the contract, and I signed it.”

While she’s motivated to score a win against Stamp, “Lil’ Savage” understands the Thai athlete will likely be her toughest opponent to date. With eight victories in MMA, after a dominant spell in atomweight Muay Thai and kickboxing saw her claiming World Titles in both sports, Stamp has evolved into an athlete capable of taking on many different types of fighters.

Having done her homework, Anderson believes her superstar foe will come out of her corner in typical fashion in their tussle, advancing behind her striking before bringing in her rapidly evolving BJJ skills. As such, the 28-year-old Michigan native has been tightening up anything she can within her own arsenal to ensure she’s battle-ready at ONE Fight Night 10.

She added, “I don’t think it’s a surprise that she’s just going to try to strike. It’s like the same game plan. I feel like she had that against Angela Lee. And I feel like she will tighten up her jiu-jitsu and takedown defense.” 

“But, you know, I’m going to be training hard for the same time she will be, like working on that. So, it’s not a surprise what kind of matchup this will be.”
