ONE Championship announced a mega title bout as their headliner for ONE 160. The August 26 event will go down a day before ONE 161: Moraes vs. Johnson ll, the promotion’s first-ever prime time U.S. show on the Amazon Prime deal. But before that, Featherweight king, Thanh Le, will put up his strap against #1 ranked Tang Kai at ONE 160 inside Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The guaranteed-to-be chaotic bout could see the challenger, Tang Kai, securing the first ONE world championship for China. Whereas, the Vietnamese-American will have only one goal in his mind—total domination.

Both fighters are riding phenomenal winning streaks in the promotion.
Kai, who is undefeated inside ONE Circle, has won 6 bouts in a row since making his ONE Championship debut in 2019 against Sung Jong Lee. The Dragon Gym standout has finished four of these six wins. Besides, he’s on a three-fight finishing streak; All of them came in the first round.
Thanh Le, on the other hand, also undefeated inside ONE Circle, has a five-fight winning streak on his resume at ‘The Home of Martial Arts’. The 36-year-old has never seen the judges’ scorecard, as he finished all of his bouts with impressive T/KOs.
Thus, this bout at ONE 160 will be a great start to the subsequent event which will have a blockbuster rematch between flyweight champion, Adriano Moraes and the MMA GOAT, Demetrious Johnson.

The promotion’s decision to add two gigantic events back-to-back will be a treat for the fans, as both bouts have some of the best talents of ONE showcasing their skills.

The August 26 event was announced on a virtual call, where both the champion and challenger gave their initial thoughts about the matchup, which heated up things between them.
“I want him [Tang Kai] to feel the championship rounds, to feel he doesn’t belong in there for five rounds with the champ,” the 36-year-old said.
Whereas, the challenger offered, “I respect him [Thanh Le] a lot, but he’s also 36 years old, and I think he should really be considering retirement.”
