Tawanchai more than held his own against his former Glory Kickboxing World Champion foe in the first two rounds, constantly controlling the distance with his well-placed kicks. As the battle neared its completion, the 24-year-old unleashed a kick that Kiria blocked with his arm. Immediately after the strike made impact, the Georgian striker signaled the referee to stop the fight.

He was clearly in pain, and it was later revealed that the strike broke a bone in the Tbilisi native’s arm. Though he scored the impressive win, Tawanchai insisted he hadn’t intended to inflict such significant damage during his post-fight interview. “I wasn’t really thinking or feeling anything [when I landed the final kick] because I was just stopping him from him getting closer to me, so I had been doing my kicks since the first round,” he said.
