Superlek will be busy in the coming months. The ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion was already booked to challenge Jonathan Haggerty for his bantamweight Muay Thai throne at ONE: Denver in September, but now he’s scheduled for flyweight action, too.

On Friday, June 28, Superlek will square off with fellow Thai star Kongthoranee Sor Sommai at ONE Friday Fights 68 inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Will Superlek continue his dominance?

“The Kicking Machine” is the top-ranked contender in the flyweight Muay Thai division, and he’ll look to cement that status and continue his blistering run of form in ONE Championship against his surging compatriot. He is on an insane nine-fight win streak, dating back to May 2022, which includes two successful World Title defenses in kickboxing and a pristine 7-0 record in the “art of eight limbs.”

Superlek’s latest conquest in Muay Thai was none other than divisional king Rodtang Jitmuangnon, whom he bested by unanimous decision in a firey brawl at ONE Friday Fights 34 in September 2023. Unfortunately, he missed the contracted weight in the leadup, which prevented him from winning a second belt against “The Iron Man.”

The 28-year-old responded to that disappointment with a monumental win in his next outing. He defeated Japanese superstar Takeru Segawa in a five-round war at ONE 165 this past January to retain his World Title and peg himself as arguably the best flyweight striker in the world. However, there is little doubt that Superlek will face a significant challenge when he takes on Kongthoranee next month.

Kongthoranee puts his reputation on the line

The Sor Sommai man has won eight of nine fights in ONE Championship, including seven from his last seven in the ONE Friday Fights series, and he has produced barnburners every time. The 27-year-old’s latest masterpiece came against Jaosuayai Mor Krungthepthonburi at ONE Friday Fights 58 last month, which helped him earn a six-figure contract to perform at ONE Championship’s premiere events.

While he’ll still be competing at the promotion’s weekly event showcase in his upcoming fight, it will be against one of the biggest stars in the striking world today. A win for Kongthoranee would push his reputation to astronomical levels and put him on a direct path to challenge for the division’s top prize.

It was announced earlier this week that ONE Friday Fights 68 will also feature a battle for the vacant ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Title between strawweight Muay Thai king Prajanchai PK Saenchai and undefeated star Jonathan Di Bella.
