ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 is on an incredible tear right now. But rising strawweight Muay Thai star Freddie Haggerty believes his older brother will have no issues putting an end to it early next month.
On U.S. primetime on Friday, September 6, Jonathan Haggerty is set to defend the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title against Superlek in the main event of ONE 168: Denver inside Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.

The younger Haggerty is well aware of the danger that “The Kicking Machine” possesses. After all, his 10-fight run makes his dominance clear for all to see. But the British up-and-comer, who has won both of his battles in ONE so far – says that there are glaring weaknesses in Superlek’s game. And he believes his older sibling will exploit them.
“Superlek has one style, but he’s great at it. His right side is so dangerous. The right kick and elbow are so lethal. I don’t believe his punches are the greatest, so I think the main worry for Jon is to keep away from the elbows and the kicks,” Haggerty said.
He further added, “I don’t think Jon will be too worried, though. He’s working on a great game plan to stop these kicks and elbows and have counters for everything. I think he’s going to absolutely smash it.”

ONE 168 will not be the first time the striking megastars have collided. They met outside of ONE Championship in 2018, with Superlek taking the victory on that occasion after a cut to Haggerty’s eye forced proceedings to be halted.

Many were disappointed by the anticlimactic ending, but none more than the two athletes involved. As such, they’ll both be out to score a finish that leaves no one in doubt about who the best pound-for-pound striker in the world today is when they meet in Colorado. Like his foe, Haggerty is also on an impressive run in ONE. He has six wins in a row to his name and has picked the bantamweight Muay Thai and kickboxing crowns in that time.
Whether or not Freddie Haggerty’s predictions come true remains to be seen for now. But there is little doubt that “The General” represents the biggest threat to Superlek’s legendary streak right now in the world’s largest martial arts organization. So, fans are in for a barnburner when he takes to The Circle against “The Kicking Machine” on September 6.
