Superbon Singha Mawynn is looking for more than just gold in his next ONE Championship outing – he’s seeking a road to redemption. The Thai superstar is set to collide with rival Marat Grigorian for a second time in the world’s largest martial arts organization.

All of it when they battle for the ONE Interim Featherweight Kickboxing World Championship in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 58 inside the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, April 5. In their initial meeting, the Singha Mawynn Muay Thai representative successfully defended the division’s top prize in a five-round war at ONE X in March 2022.

More than the belt on the line for Superbon

But Superbon lost the belt in his next fight against current king Chingiz Allazov in early 2023, and he told ONE that he’s got more than interim gold in mind in his rematch with Grigorian next weekend.

“[Winning the interim title] would mean a lot to me because I want to redeem myself against Chingiz. To win this fight is to guarantee that I will have a chance to rematch with him,” he said. “Chingiz was a blemish on my career. I will go back to him and get revenge.”

Carrying a 12-fight win streak and holding the moniker of best pound-for-pound kickboxer in the world, Superbon met Allazov at ONE Fight Night 6 with a ton of momentum behind him. But “Chinga” shocked the world when he scored a massive second-round knockout over the 33-year-old star.

Allazov is currently reflecting on the next step of his career, so Superbon and Grigorian will battle for the interim World Title and the right to challenge the Azerbaijani when he returns to action in ONE. As any former World Champion would, Superbon wants to reclaim the top spot on the featherweight kickboxing mountain.

But his main focus is avenging his devastating loss to the current titleholder, and that road starts at ONE Friday Fights 58. “If I can become the champion, I won’t run away from anyone. I’m ready to fight with everyone. I’d even rather rematch with Chingiz than get the World Title,” he said.

Clearly, it looks like that one loss he has haunts him still. And getting that win back from Allazov is perhaps even more important than taking that belt. But perhaps if he does win, their rematch could sell even more seats than the upcoming one. Would you buy a seat?
