Sage Northcutt is expecting an exciting fight when ONE Championship crowns an interim World Champion for its women’s atomweight mixed martial arts division next month.
On Friday, September 29, top-ranked contender Stamp Fairtex will face the #2-ranked Ham Seo Hee for the coveted crown in the main event of ONE Fight Night 14, which is set to go down when the promotion returns to the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Sage Northcutt thinks Stamp Fairtex vs Ham Seo Hee will be a banger
No woman has been able to take the crown away from inaugural divisional queen Angela Lee. However, with the Singaporean-American’s future currently uncertain, the world’s largest martial arts organization sought her blessing to introduce an interim strap to keep the division moving. “Super” believes the battle between Stamp and Ham will produce incredible action––one that fans should not miss.
“[Stamp is] an incredible fighter. So I think there’s no way that this fight and her opponent aren’t going to be fireworks,” he told ONE Championship in an interview. “I think that is going to be a big hit. I think fans are going to love it. I know that I’m going to love it, too.” Ham is an accomplished veteran in the mixed martial arts world, and she competed in various organizations across the globe before taking her talents to ONE.
After claiming three straight wins in the promotion, she is now looking to claim the biggest prize of her career to prove that she is the best in her division. Meanwhile, Stamp held both the ONE Atomweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Championships before turning her attention to mixed martial arts. Since then, she has collected 10 wins, which include an undefeated run to win the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix Championship in 2021.
This is how Stamp Fairtex can overcome Ham Seo Hee
Northcutt thinks that the Thai megastar’s superior striking will be key to her success against Ham, and he offers what he thinks she will do to become the first three-sport World Champion ONE has ever seen.
“This is going to be super exciting. I think that Stamp has probably been drilling a lot of takedown defense, wrestling, and grappling defense,” he said. “If she can keep it on the feet, that’s where her bread and butter is, right there, with Muay Thai and kickboxing.”
