“Super” Sage Northcutt knows he has a chance to flip the script and start a successful run in ONE Championship when he returns to action at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video. The lightweight star will step inside the Circle for the first time in almost four years when he meets Ahmed “Wolverine” Mujtaba at ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III at 1stBank Center in Denver, Colorado, on May 5.

Despite the long gap in competition, Northcutt isn’t wrapping himself up in the outcome of his upcoming battle with one of the most decorated fighters competing out of Pakistan.

Instead, his focus is on showcasing the best version of himself. The Evolve MMA and Team Alpha Male athlete shared, “I’m looking forward to going out there. As I said, I’m not the kind of person who’s making any kind of predictions or anything like that. But yeah, [I’m just] all around trying to improve every spot in my game.”
“So, I’m not going to be just focused on one specific area. It’s all around trying to make myself better”. Northcutt’s road back to ONE hasn’t been an easy one.

A devastating 30-second knockout at the hands of Brazilian veteran Cosmo Alexandre in his promotional debut at ONE: ENTER THE DRAGON in May 2019 led him to have to undergo surgery, which meant he had to spend months recovering afterward. Then a bout of Covid-19 created more issues for the American athlete, pushing his return further.

Sage Northcutt never gave up on his vision of returning to the circle
Despite the arduous journey, “Super” insists that he never lost sight of the ONE Circle. On his recovery, Northcutt said, “Knowing me and anybody that knows me, I work extremely hard. I’m always training super hard. Year-round, I stayed in shape. And I’m always getting after it. Definitely, you know, I think right now my mind is focused on this fight.”
His unfaltering determination has finally brought him back to where he wants to be. And if he can earn a crucial win against Mujtaba at ONE’s debut live event in the U.S., Northcutt can plot his next move in the promotion’s stacked lightweight division.

His ultimate goal is to become a ONE Lightweight World Title, and “Super” is ready to grind his way to the top of the weight class. He added, “I’m going to take one fight at a time and talk about the next ones after that. But, all [I can say] is that I’m working extremely hard and training very hard.”
