Regian “The Immortal” Eersel has successfully defended his ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Title on three occasions, and he has remained unbeaten for the last six years.

At ONE 156: Eersel vs. Sadikovic this Friday, 22 April, the Surinamese-Dutch star returns to the Circle to put his gold on the line against German striker Arian “Game Over” Sadikovic.

With an astonishing 18 straight wins to his name, Eersel has every right to be confident ahead of his upcoming bout, and the 29-year-old expects to retain his throne once again – with another highlight-reel finish inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

“We will end by knockout. I’m not one to say things that will happen in the future, but I will do it easy in the third round,” he asserted.

“It has been three or four years since [I beat someone by] knockout, so this time I want to win by KO.”

All of “The Immortal’s” recent wins have come by way of decision, and he is clearly not happy about it. The Sityodtong Amsterdam representative, who has 26 knockouts on his resume, even described his last outing against Islam Murtazaev at ONE: WINTER WARRIORS last December, as one of his worst performances to date.

Despite not being able to punish his rival with his trademark aggression, Eersel still managed to deliver enough damage to impress the judges and take home a split decision against his Russian rival.

Regian Eersel believes his fight IQ separates him from Arian Sadikovic

While “Game Over” presents a different threat, the lightweight kickboxing king is confident that his arsenal and fight IQ are back in tune, and he’s ready to let it show on Friday.

“My strength is in the power of my knee [strikes]. Also, my [fight] intelligence. While I’m fighting, I can adapt to my opponent. I have almost another person inside me that is full of aggression. And yeah, it comes out in the ring. When I’m in there, I’m just in kill mode. [At that point] you just do what you have been taught in the training,” Eersel warned.

Sadikovic earned his shot at the World Title after putting on a striking clinic against Mustapha Haida in his ONE debut last December.

Though it was an impressive display, Eersel didn’t think much of it, and he believes his opponent’s performance exposed some glaring gaps within his skill set – ones that “The Immortal” will look to capitalize on when they clash on 22 April.

“He has a lot of holes in his style. I think I am going to [find them]. I think I’m going to use this to my advantage,” Eersel said.
