Jonathan “The General” Haggerty isn’t impressed by Amir Naseri’s attitude ahead of their upcoming matchup at ONE on Prime Video 1: Moraes vs. Johnson II.

The two fighters will tussle in a ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix alternate bout at the event, which airs live in U.S. primetime on August 26, and Naseri has made it clear that he sees Haggerty as just another regular Muay Thai fighter.

The Iranian-Malaysian athlete added that the #2-ranked flyweight Muay Thai contender doesn’t have the power nor the variety of strikes to tango with him.

Naseri’s comments were a bit too brash for Haggerty, who believes his upcoming foe will come to regret his words when they square off in Singapore.

“The General” cites his previous performances as proof of this and says he plans to put on a more dominant performance than the man who defeated Naseri in the Grand Prix quarterfinals, Savvas Michael.

“I think it’s a bad idea for him to say that because it’s only going to make me want to hurt him even more,” he said.

“The last time someone spoke like that, it was Mongkolpetch [Petchyindee], and he paid for it. So, I’m going to go out there in the first round and try and obliterate him to show that I am one step ahead of Savvas, and I am more dangerous than him by stopping Naseri.”

Naseri, on the other hand, suffered a loss to Cypriot powerhouse Michael at ONE 157 this past May.

Haggerty has used that bout to learn more about his upcoming foe. And needless to say, he isn’t impressed.

The 25-year-old striker is confident that he’ll be leaving ONE’s debut show on Prime Video with a decisive victory, so much so that he is already preparing for the possibility of entering the tournament, which will occur should any of the entrants have to pull out.

“I feel like he doesn’t have game plans. He just goes in there and fights. He overextends. He’s quite a scrappy fighter. He makes mistakes, which is very dangerous against someone like myself,” Haggerty said.

“As I said, I’m not looking past Naseri, but it’s a bit unfortunate for him, because I’m training my absolute [hardest]. I’m not preparing for Naseri – I’m getting ready for Rodtang. I’m getting ready for Savvas. So, good luck to them all.”
