Two huge blockbuster matches have been added to ONE Fight Night 15: Tawanchai vs. Superbon, as the October 6 event continues to grow by the day. ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling World Champion Mikey Musumeci is now set to face Japanese martial arts legend Shinya Aoki in a non-title open weight grappling contest on this exciting card.
Jonathan Di Bella will defend his ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Title for the first time when he takes on Danial Williams in one of three matches for ONE Championship gold. These two new fights add even more star power to what is shaping up to be a spectacular showcase of martial arts greatness.
Mikey Musumeci to roll with Shinya Aoki
Musumeci steps out of his natural weight class for the first time in the world’s largest martial arts organization to face “Tobikan Judan.” The flyweight submission grappling king has firmly established himself as an unstoppable force since joining ONE, collecting five wins in as many contests.
He will look to prove that technique trumps size when he takes on former lightweight MMA titleholder Aoki. However, the Japanese star’s skills are not to be taken lightly. After all, he has an MMA record of 47 wins, with most of those coming thanks to his incredible grappling game. The 40-year-old has never backed down from a challenge, and he certainly won’t let an opportunity to take out arguably the best grappler in the world today pass him by.
Danial William challenges Jonathan Di Bella
Meanwhile, the battle for the strawweight kickboxing belt is a match that fans should keep their eyes on, as it could produce an instant classic. The undefeated Di Bella made a splash in his promotional debut last October when he stopped the streak of Chinese striker Zhang Peimian’s meteoric rise and claimed the vacant divisional throne. His combination of speed, power, and length has helped the Canadian-Italian star claim 11 victories. He’ll look to cement his place atop the strawweight kickboxing division against an ever-present force on October 6.
Enter the Aussie-Thai spitfire Danial Williams–a multi-sport athlete who has no quit. “Mini T” has three MMA wins to his name, but he has also shown incredible heart in Muay Thai by going five rounds with flyweight king Rodtang Jitmuangnon. He also took on flyweight kickboxing Superlek Kiatmoo9 on short notice. In his third striking contest in ONE, he will face yet another World Champion. However, it will be the first time he competes in his natural weight class, so it’s bound to be fascinating to see him trade leather in a comfortable division.
