ONE Championship has booked Janet ‘JT’ Todd vs Lara ‘Pizza Powder’ Fernandez for the interim atomweight Muay Thai world championship in the co-headliner at ONE 159: de Ridder vs. Bigdash. The July 22 event will have ONE debutant, WBC & ISKA Muay Thai queen, getting an enormous opportunity to bag another feather in her cap with a coveted ONE title.
A top atomweight athlete, Anissa Meksen, though, had a few thoughts about this matchup, which she expressed in a post on her Instagram account.

The former Glory kickboxing champion (Meksen) believes she deserved the title bout over the debutant Spanish athlete.
In her post, she demanded a title shot for her next outing and criticized the ONE 159 co-main event matchup. Meksen labeled it as ‘incomprehensible’ and ‘inexplicable’.

The seven-time Muay Thai and kickboxing world champion has two wins at ‘The Home of Martial Arts’ over Cristina Morales and Marie Ruumet. Her latest win came at April 22 event, ONE 156.
The 34-year-old has a professional kickboxing and Muay Thai record of 102-5. She is viewed as one of the best pound-for-pound strikers in the world. Thus, she was upset about a new name in ONE, Lara Fernandez, getting the title opportunity over her.

In the past, the French-Algerian, Meksen, has called out ONE atomweight kickboxing queen Janet Todd for her kickboxing title. And now, if ‘JT’ can get the job done at ONE 159 and capture the Muay Thai title as well, it will make these two fighters’ saga even more captivating.
Janet Todd vs. Lara Fernandez is not a mismatch from ONE Championship
Despite Anissa Meksen’s belief that she deserved the title shot over Lara Fernandez, the Spanish striker’s accolades speak for herself. Who deserved it more is a different story. But ‘Pizza Powder’ is not any inexperienced debutant fighter getting the title shot.
She has been honing her striking skills since 14 and has won multiple world titles. The Lone Wolf Fight Team athlete, as aforementioned, is a WBC (flyweight) and ISKA (super-featherweight) champion.
