Will 'Reug Reug' Kane's wrestling overpower Malykhin's perfect finishing rate in this epic showdown?

ONE Championship is back with yet another stacked card to thoroughly entertain the fighting community. Featuring a triple champion, Anatoly Malykhin, pitted against the bruising Senegalese wrestling champion, Oumar ‘Reug Reug’ Kane, in the main event, ONE 169 garnered quite a bit of attention from the day it was announced. The promotion was set to return to the US with ONE 169, but was eventually moved to Bangkok, Thailand. With the stage set, and the fights in place, Thailand is about to witness one of the biggest MMA events in Asia at ONE 169.

ONE 169 will entertain fight fans at the Lumpinee Stadium, in Bangkok with the finale featuring the much-awaited fight between Malykhin and Kane. Fight enthusiasts who can’t make it to the venue can still watch the event live from the comfort of their homes. All they need is an active Amazon Prime Video subscription. The event will commence at US primetime, on the 8th of November.

Malykhin defending his heavyweight championship title against ‘Reug Reug’ is indeed one of the most anticipated fights in the promotion. While ‘Sladiy’ has a more refined boxing and a fearsome 100% finishing rate, his Senegalese opponent is a well-established wrestler. Not too long ago, Kane himself told ONE Championship – “The mentality is different. The power is different. The skills are going to be different.”

If you have been following ONE Championship for a while, you will know that ONE 169 was initially slated to return to the US soil. Needless to say, Atlanta would have rejoiced with a ONE Championship event. However, the fight promotion had to move the event to Thailand because of “partner obligations”. And fight fans who had already bought their tickets for the event had their money back via Ticketmaster.

Have an interesting take?

With the heavyweight titans all set to clash at ONE 169, fans are eagerly awaiting for Asia’s premier MMA promotion to deliver a fight card for the ages. After all, this is one of the few events that planned to feature not one, but three different title fights. Now, let’s shift our focus to the matchups that’s been raising excitement in the combat sports world – keeping aside the main event, of course.

Fight cards that have kept the fanbase excited

ONE 169 is set to feature the fight between Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Jacob Smith. ‘The Iron Man’ is known for his impeccable battle IQ and the ability to eat heavy shots. He was slated to defend his ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title against the #3 contender. This fight is Smith’s chance to redeem himself from his 2022 defeat against Rodtang. Only Smith will be eligible for the title, as Rodtang had to relinquish it due to missing weight. Thankfully, this isn’t the only title fight on the card, barring the main event.

Jackie Buntan will take on the French star, Anissa Meksen in the other co-main event. The winner of the fight will become the inaugural ONE women’s strawweight kickboxing world champion. While the Filipino-American phenom is looking for a legendary win at ONE 169, ‘C18’ has aspiration of gold, as well.
