Another intriguing matchup has been added to the ever-growing ONE Friday Fights 46: Tawanchai vs. Superbon card on December 22. In the latest announcement from ONE Championship, former bantamweight Muay Thai king Nong-O Hama is making his return to action at the year-ending showcase.

He’ll face off with surging striker Nico Carrillo in a crucial bantamweight Muay Thai pairing. Moreover, it may decide the next challenger to the World Title inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Nong-O has been a force in the division since he arrived in the world’s largest martial arts organization in 2018. Further, he went unbeaten in his first 10 fights. Also, it included winning the division’s top prize in 2019 and defending it a jaw-dropping seven times.

The Thai veteran looked to do the same at ONE Fight Night 9 this past April. He faced former flyweight Muay Thai king Jonathan Haggerty, who was competing at bantamweight for only the second time in his ONE tenure.

Unfortunately, ‘The General’ proved to be more than Nong-O could handle. The Englishman convincingly handed him his first knockout loss in over a decade. He hasn’t been seen in action since that fateful night. Now, the 37-year-old star will be eager to return to winning ways and find a route back to Haggerty and the World Title. But that will be much easier said than done against Carrillo.

Nico Carrillo’s exceptional performances!

‘King of the North’ has been nothing short of brilliant since making his debut earlier this year at ONE Friday Fights 13. The Scottish star produced a third-round knockout win over Turkey’s Furkan Karabag that night. Next, he followed it up with another knockout at ONE Friday Fights 22 two months later. He snapped veteran Muangthai PK Saenchai’s three-fight win streak in the process.

That victory earned him the #5-ranked contender spot in the bantamweight Muay Thai division. Also, it landed him the biggest chance of his career against Nong-O on December 22.

Previously announced bouts for the event include the highly-anticipated showdown between Superbon Singha Mawynn and Tawanchai PK Saenchai. This fight is for the ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Championship. Further, Joseph Lasiri and Pranjanchai PK Saenchai’s strawweight Muay Thai World Title unification bout is also on the card. Moreover, Anissa Meksen and Phetjeeja will also battle for the interim women’s atomweight kickboxing strap. The event looks stacked with great fights!
