Rising Thai star Phetjeeja will make her debut on ONE Championship’s main roster this Friday, July 14, and she has designs on challenging for a World Title soon. At ONE Fight Night 12: Superlek vs Khalilov, “The Queen” will take on former ONE World Title challenger Lara Fernandez in an atomweight Muay Thai battle, with the star-studded spectacle going out live from Bangkok, Thailand’s, Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

The 21-year-old has over 200 wins to her name in Muay Thai and also has an amateur boxing medal from her time competing on Thailand’s national squad.

Phetjeeja wanted to waste no time in getting to Allycia Helen Rodrigues’ title

Her dangerous hands proved to be key weapons in the back-to-back stoppages she scored at ONE Friday Fights, and those victories proved enough to score her a contract with ONE and a chance to compete at the promotion’s marquee event series. The young striking phenom may be competing in her first fight on ONE’s biggest stage, but she’s already looking beyond her upcoming battle.

“Of course, my eyes are on the champion,” Phetjeea told ONE Championship in an interview. “If I can perform well enough in my debut, I want to test my skills with the champ, if possible. Allycia Hellen Rodrigues is so strong and tough. After she came back [from pregnancy], she is much stronger and sharper.”

Reigning ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodrigues shocked the world in her promotional debut in 2020 when she defeated Stamp Fairtex to claim the divisional crown. Shortly after the monumental win, the Brazilian star announced her pregnancy and spent time away from action to prepare for motherhood.

As a result, atomweight kickboxing queen Janet Todd and Fernandez fought for the interim Muay Thai strap in 2022, with Todd winning on that occasion.

Phetjeeja will probably have to overcome Lara Fernandez’s challenge before a title shot

Rodrigues made her return to action earlier this year, unifying the World Title in brilliant fashion against the American fighter, and the win put a target on her back–one the Phetjeeja is aiming for.

“Whether ONE wants me to take a shot for gold right away or they want me to prove myself for a few more fights, that’s fine for me. I’m more than ready to challenge Allycia Hellen Rodrigues if they give me a shot.”

In order to take a positive step toward a World Title shot, she must first get past Fernandez, a WBC Muay Thai and ISKA Kickboxing World Champion. But if she can prove herself against the Spanish superstar, Phetjeeja may find herself competing for the crown sooner rather than later.
