Current ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai is all set to take on two-division Lion Fight Champion Jo Nattawut at ONE 167: Tawanchai vs. Jo Nuttawut. The pair initially locked horns eight months back under the kickboxing rules. However, this time, the fight will take place under Muay Thai rules, much to the delight of the fans.

The clash will take place after reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight MMA World Champion Stamp Fairtex withdrew from her fight. Tawanchai recently sat down for a chat with a renowned media outlet and, while speaking to them, shared his opinion about the upcoming clash.

The upcoming fight at ONE 167 will take place under the Muay Thai rules. One of the biggest attractions of the fight will be the diverse rules, unlike their previous fight in kickboxing. Both fighters have already started their preparation and have already come up with their game plans.

Tawanchai is a thorough professional of the sport and always prepares according to his opponent. This is exactly the case before his next clash at ONE 168. While speaking to the media outlet, Tawanchai was asked about his preparation and the ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion seemed absolutely ready for the challenge.

The 25-year-old’s statement at the press conference translated, “In the past fight, it was in kickboxing. He believed that Jo was unexpectedly good. He never believed that Jo can be this strong…  Jo Nattawut has said many good things about Tawanchai. Now Tawanchai feel bad. He doesn’t want to fight with Jo anymore. But the fight has to go on and Tawanchai thinks that fighting in Muay Thai rules set it will be much more interesting than kickboxing.”

The 25-year-old also emphasized that the freedom of the rules in the Muay Thai will help him in the fight. Although Tawanchai won his previous fight via decision, he was quite surprised by the way Nattawut fought.

In one of his recent interviews, he also made it clear that he initially took Nattawut very lightly. However, this time around, he made it clear that he won’t be making the same mistake.

The pair previously met at ONE Fight Night 15 on short notice, and Nattawut surprised everyone with his performance. 25-year-old Tawanchai won the clash via decision, but Nattawut won the hearts of most of the fans. Now, Tawanchai is focused on improving his performance and is leaving no stone unturned. Acknowledging his past mistakes the ONE Featherweight Muay Thai world champion has promised to change his approach with a more conscious approach in the rematch.

In one of his recent press conferences he said, “Well. I would say that in the last match, I underestimated him and did not really study him in order to come up with the counterattack,”. He further added, “It will be drastically different this time because it’s not kickboxing; it’s Muay Thai.  I learned that you can’t underestimate him at all… I completely acknowledge I was careless.”
