Can Liam Harrison really knock out the 'toughest man on Earth' Seksan at ONE 168?

Liam “Hitman” Harrison has made a name for himself in the sport of Muay Thai with several notable wins in the sport, and he is looking to add to his legacy by defeating a tough contender in his next bout. At ONE 168: Denver, “Hitman” is set to take on the always-dangerous Seksan Or Kwanmuang in a catchweight Muay Thai clash that has fans roaring.

Harrison is arguably one of the UK’s greatest Muay Thai fighters in the region and fought some of the biggest stars in the sport to earn his standing as one of the best in the world. He is finally back in full health after suffering a major injury in his last outing in ONE and is ready to make a comeback after two years on the sidelines.

The 38-year-old is confident about his knockout power and knows that he can KO Seksan. He said during a ONE Championship interview, “I’m looking to be the first guy to knock him out in ONE Championship. Only one person has stopped Seksan before and that was years ago. No one else has come close to looking like doing it.”

He mentioned his own KO power and said, “He hasn’t fought anyone who hits anywhere near as sharp and as hard as I do in ONE, and he’s been wobbled before. If he starts leaving himself wide open, I’ll just check him straight out of there. I can knock anyone out with one shot. But then again, that’s how he fights. He’s willing to take shots to come forward and give it. He drowns you with pressure, so I’ve got to be careful as well. If you do wobble him, you’ve got to realize that he’s one of the toughest men on planet Earth and you’ve got to pick your shots and not go crazy.”

‘The Man Who Yields to No One’ is not an easy contender to go up against. The 35-year-old is regarded as one of the most dangerous Muay Thai athletes of all time. He has come a long way from being bullied at school when he was 9. His father, who is a former fighter, took him to learn combat sports early in his life. He has gone on to win some of the most prestigious accolades in Muay Thai, including the Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai World Title and a WBC Muay Thai World Title.

Since joining ONE Championship, he has amassed an 8-1 record, going undefeated in 2023 before absorbing his first loss earlier in the year against Japanese star Yutaro Asahi at ONE Friday Fights 58. Harrison knows the dangerous weapons that his opponent carries. He admitted that he would have to be alert and “switched on for the entire fight” if he did not want to get caught in a trap.

Even Seksan is not taking things lightly and is gearing up for the fight. He knows his opponent might not make the same mistakes that his other opponents did.

What did Seksan say about Harrison?

The Thai fighter cannot envision anything other than a ferocious bout against his legendary opponent. “The Man Who Yields To No One,” told ONE Championship, “Both I and him can knock each other out because we both have the same style. So, I have a strong belief it won’t go the distance. But if we fight until the last bell, it’s going to be a fierce three rounds!”

Seksan is excited to put on a memorable show, but he also has a point to prove to his opponent. Winning this fight is extremely important to him because many fans think that he is not on par with Harrison. Meanwhile, he is also flattered by the respect that his British opponent has paid him before the fight. Both men are decorated fighters who have been at the top of the game and have always admired each other’s work.

He said to ONE Championship, “I’m glad he called me out. He’s a legend. I follow him too. He’s a heavy hitter. I’m glad he said he wanted to fight a legend from Thailand. I am flattered that he calls me a hero.”

Seksan seems to be concerned about the offensive strategy of Harrison but is also confident about his durability if the fight becomes intense. Are you excited about this fight? Tell us in the comments below.
