Anatoly Malykhin claimed the undisputed ONE Heavyweight World Title earlier this year, and he’s made it clear that he’s not afraid to take on anyone who covets it.
Over the last two ONE Championship events, a pair of contenders to his throne has emerged: Iran’s Amir Aliakbari and Senegal’s “Reug Reug” Oumar Kane.

Aliakbari ended Dustin Johnson at ONE Fight Night 13 to make it three fights from as many outings, and “Reug Reug” snapped the multiple-time BJJ World Champion Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida’s undefeated streak at ONE Fight Night 13 earlier this month, doing the same. The Russian giant jumped into the ring to square off with Aliakbari after the Iranian’s latest win, fueling speculation that he could be next in line to challenge for the heavyweight strap. However, Reug Reug’s impressive victory over “Buchecha” has certainly launched him straight into the World Title conversation.
The Senegalese wrestling standout expressed his desire to challenge for gold, and Malykhin said he was more than ready to take him on. “Yes, when it’s his turn, I’m ready to accept his challenge,” the two-division ONE World Champion said. “The organization knows that I never turn down a challenge, I never turn down a fight. I’m ready to fight anyone who wants to claim my belt. And if ‘Reug Reug’ is ready, I’m always ready. Let him get in line.”

The Golden Team representative has demolished every single fighter put in front of him in ONE, and he has finished all 13 of his opponents within the distance in his career. During that time, he took the ONE Light Heavyweight World Title from previously undefeated superstar Reinier de Ridder before solidifying his position by claiming the undisputed heavyweight throne against former titleholder Arjan Bhullar. Considering his reign of terror and the trail of fallen champions, Malykhin believes that he is the one guy no one wants to fight against.
‘Reug Reug’ ‘too slow’ for Anatoliy Malykhin
“Ask any ONE heavyweight, ‘Would you like to face ‘Sladkiy?’’ And one hundred percent of the answers will be, ‘No,’” he said. “I’m on a completely different level compared to these guys. My life is running on a tight schedule–crazy workouts, the best family, the best coaching staff. I one hundred percent love what I do, and I don’t slip up anywhere. I don’t slack.” There is now a real possibility that Kane and Aliakbari will square off for the right to challenge Malykhin for the prestigious gold in the world’s largest martial arts organization.

However, considering the quality of “Reug Reug’s” latest win, he just might have a slight edge over the Iranian contender, whom Malykhin defeated in 2021. For “Sladkiy,” though, it doesn’t matter who he faces. However, he did offer his prediction of how Kane would fare against him if they did face each other. “‘Reug Reug’ has no chance against me. He’s very slow, he doesn’t breathe well, and I don’t see how he can compete with me. He doesn’t have the skills to surprise me. He’s a regular, slow heavyweight,” Malykhin said.
