Two-sport ONE World Champion Jonathan “The General” Haggerty is heading into the biggest fight of his career in less than a month. And his younger brother, Freddie, has no doubts about the outcome.
In the main event of ONE 168: Denver on U.S. primetime on Friday, September 6, “The General” will put the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title on the line against flyweight kickboxing king Superlek Kiatmoo9 inside Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.

Superlek is on an incredible run in the world’s largest martial arts organization. His thrilling 10-fight streak includes a successful defense of his divisional crown against Japanese kickboxing sensation Takeru this past January.

The Thai powerhouse may be enjoying impressive momentum, but Freddie Haggerty believes his brother will offer a bigger challenge when they switch sports at ONE 168.“I believe Jon will stop Superlek. I know it. I reckon Jon will stop him in the fourth round,” he said.

He further added, “He’ll drag him into some deep waters. Nobody has ever stuck it on Superlek much. The only person I’ve ever seen take it to him was Takeru in that round at ONE 165. Takeru had him hurt. Somehow, he stayed standing. I don’t know how, but he did. He took a lot of shots and showed heart.”
What’s your perspective on:
Is Jonathan Haggerty the real threat Superlek should be worried about, more than Takeru ever was?
Have an interesting take?
Will Haggerty maintain his winning streak?
“The General” is unbeaten across his last six outings in ONE Championship, including three straight knockouts since moving to the bantamweight ranks, and he is in arguably the best shape of his career. “But if Takeru can hurt him in boxing gloves, I think Jon can really mess him up in 4-ounce gloves.”

With him claiming the bantamweight Muay Thai and kickboxing straps against Nong-O and Fabricio Andrade, respectively, in 2023, there is little doubt that Haggerty can dance with the best of them.
Whether or not he can put down the striking force of Superlek remains to be seen. But if Freddie Haggerty is to be believed, fans are in for one hell of a battle when ONE Championship returns to U.S. shores next month.
