Jarred “The Monkey God” Brooks achieved what he had set out to do inside the Circle this year. But although he finally secured his status as the ONE Strawweight World Champion, the American fighter still wants to showcase further improvement in 2023 to ensure he cements his position. As well as electric performances, Brooks consistently displays a sense of showmanship inside the Circle.

He hopes to continue doing all that while riling up the strawweight stars dreaming of a shot at glory against him. And he already has a message aimed at the talent-jammed division.

Jared Brooks gave a message to the entire Strawweight division

“Do you think that you have an advantage against me? I’ve already outthought you, and I’ve already paid attention to you. And you know, I’ve been stalking your social media for the past year and a half. So I already know you, and hopefully, you get to know me a little bit better,” Brooks said.

“If you’ve watched my last fight, I’m a magician. I’ll change things as quickly as possible against you.” Despite having a target on his back as the ONE Strawweight World Titleholder, “The Monkey God” remains completely calm. He deserves to be, after all.

After amassing a perfect 3-0 run against Bokang Masunyane, Hiroba Minowa, and Lito Adiwang, Brooks was handed the opportunity to take on divisional king Joshua “The Passion” Pacio. That World Title clash served as the main event of ONE 164 in Manila, Philippines, earlier this month.

The wrestling specialist stunned the audience with his striking, shutting down the Filipino’s attacks with boxing combinations and thudding kicks of his own. After five rounds of action, all three judges handed the Mash Fight Team upstart the win.

Though delighted with the emphatic victory and belt-winning performance, Brooks knows that their thriller in Manila wasn’t the last time he will go toe-to-toe with “The Passion” inside the Circle.

In fact, he is already eyeing up ONE’s debut show in the United States, ONE on Prime Video 10, set to go down on May 5 and be headlined by an epic trilogy between Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes, as a card that would make sense for a rematch.

After grabbing Pacio’s gold in the former king’s homeland, Brooks sees the chance to defend his crown against the Team Lakay representative on his own turf as something he wouldn’t want to miss.

“It’d be a good story. I went to the Philippines for him and his own country. He comes to the United States on May 5 and fights me in my home country. That’d be cool,” he said.
