Can Jarred Brooks prove he's still the champ against Gustavo Balart, or is he past his peak?

Former ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion Jarred Brooks seems to be on a mission. He is determined to prove himself at ONE Fight Night 24 on Prime Video. His last appearance turned out to be a frustrating affair after he lost the title to Joshua Pacio. However, he now has the opportunity to win the interim belt when he takes on Gustavo Balart

Before his clash, he shared a message for the fans and wrote, “I’m thankful that a lot of people still see me as a champion. I still have to go and prove it. But at the end of the day, that’s all that matters.” Let us dive into the details of his upcoming fight.

Joshua Pacio is currently recovering from a knee surgery, which means Brooks won’t have the chance of redemption immediately. Brooks lost his title because of a disqualification in March and will be desperate to get hold of the belt again. However, he will first have to get past the challenge of Gustavo Balart. The 37-year-old knows that a victory at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand would push him to the top stop again. Balart is currently on a four-fight winning streak with his latest victory coming against Hiroba Minowa at ONE 165: Superlek vs Takeru.

The pair has already ignited their rivalry after Balart disrespected the former ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion. Balart is a former Olympic Wrestler from Cuba and is confident of beating Brooks in his next clash. Brooks, on the other hand, will look to reinvent himself in this fight and issued a warning for his opponent. He said,  “I want to go out there and have a spectacular finish. Wow Chatri [Sityodtong], wow the judges, wow everyone and the fans over in Thailand.” Balart has won most of his fights via decision and is yet to register any KO victories. With Brooks looking for a spectacular victory, the fight promises to be a blockbuster.

The main event of the night is certainly a fight that fans are looking forward to the most. However, the fight card is filled with some elite fighters in the promotion. Let us take a closer look at the entire fight card for ONE Fight Night 24 below.
