There’s no doubt in Jarred Brooks’ mind that he’ll be leaving Qatar with his ONE Strawweight MMA World Title still safely in his possession. This Friday, March 1, at ONE 166: Qatar, ‘The Monkey God’ will put his gold on the line in a much-anticipated rematch with former titleholder Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, live from the Lusail Sports Arena in Doha.

Undefeated in four MMA bouts in the world’s largest martial arts organization, Brooks earned a decision over Pacio after five rounds of battle back in December 2022 to capture the Filipino star’s strawweight MMA crown. ‘The Monkey God’ is now rooting to replicate his victory against Pacio in a rematch.

In their initial fight, the American employed a wide range of Martial arts tactics, from his explosive takedown game to his ever-evolving striking, to force the champion on the defensive for much of that high-paced clash. Now a little over a year later, these two strawweights are set for war again, and the outspoken Brooks is brimming with confidence.

“I’m way better than Jarred Brooks a year ago, and my tools have gotten so much better. I’m not looking past Pacio. I think that he’s a great mixed martial artist, and I think he has honed his skills down to a tee, but it’s not good enough against Jarred Brooks. I’m telling you, nobody is going to beat me. I’m always going to adapt inside of the fight and outside of the fight.” said Brooks.

Indeed, the Michigan native has looked better and better with each appearance in ONE, adding new skills every time out. Those improvements, coupled with his elite fight IQ, make him one of MMA’s most difficult puzzles to solve.

Brooks will be taking no chance against Pacio

Brooks is well aware that Pacio has a history of success when facing the same opponent twice. Over the course of his 25 career fights, ‘The Passion’ has never once lost a rematch. But the strawweight MMA kingpin isn’t concerned about what improvements or strategic changes Pacio may have made.

He’s ready, he says, for whatever his foe brings to the Circle on March 1 “I know that he’s hunting back, and he has always done well in his rematches, but I have that in my head as well. I already know what this guy is going to be coming with. He’s going to try to work on his angles. He’s going to try to put more aggression on me. But I’m ready for that.”
