This Friday, on International Women’s Day, American superstar Janet Todd will headline ONE’s landmark all-female fight card live in U.S. primetime from the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

ONE Fight Night 20 on Prime Video will serve as a showcase for elite female martial artists, featuring 18 world-class fighters representing 13 different nations around the globe. In the main event, Todd will put her ONE Atomweight Kickboxing World Title on the line against interim titleholder “The Queen” Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom in what will be the final fight of “JT’s” decorated career.

The 38-year-old is proud to sit at the top of such an important fight card. With her background in science and engineering, she knows firsthand exactly what it feels like to be a woman in a male-dominated field. Todd explained:

“I’m actually really stoked about it because I’ve always been a proponent of women in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). Because I come from an engineering background too, and that used to be male-dominated, it still is, I would say most of my meetings are mostly with males.”

“But I feel like being at the forefront of helping women in those fields, and finding their passion, and getting the confidence to continue pursuing it is really important to me.” Like engineering, combat sports have historically been male-dominated. However, ONE Championship is working to buck that trend.

Until recently, women weren’t even permitted to compete at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. Now, the planet’s top female fighters will soon converge at the Mecca of Muay Thai for a blockbuster event topped by a pair of massive World Title bouts.

Todd is a great inspiration

Todd hopes that ONE Fight Night 20 will pave the way for other women to pursue their goals – even in male-dominated fields. She added: “I think for me that’s what’s exciting to me to be part of this card with an all-woman card and we can show other women, to empower themselves, to go after what they love and just be genuinely you and be awesome at it.”
