Lito Adiwang wants to continue his rise to the top of ONE Championship’s strawweight MMA division, and he believes he is in the right place to do it.

The Filipino star will be hoping to kick off a winning streak in the promotion when he returns this Friday, February 16, to face Danial Williams at ONE Fight Night 19: Haggerty vs. Lobo inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

“Thunder Kid” was one of the most exciting fighters to watch in ONE until a lengthy injury derailed his momentum. During recovery, he chose to leave his longtime gym, Team Lakay, as he wanted to grow further as a fighter.

His move to SOMA Fight Club has yielded positive results, with him gaining a win in both outings so far, and he’s hoping to make it three in a row against Williams this weekend.

“I’ve been at SOMA for quite some time now. This is my new team officially. So far, so good. I’ve been getting all the things that I need. They have a good facility, they have great coaches, and our philosophies work well with each other,” Adiwang told ONE in an interview.

“It’s been a collaborative effort between us. The coaches respect what I bring to the table, and instead of trying to change me, we’re sharpening it. They’re only adding new things to the table.”

The Benguet native will need all the help he can get against “Mini T,” who is looking to focus on MMA after testing his striking skills against some of the best kickboxing and Muay Thai practitioners ONE has on offer last year.

Thankfully, Adiwang has capable coaches training him at Soma Fight Club and a wealth of talented training partners who can offer a variety of fighting styles.

“An advantage here is that there are a lot of fighters around my weight that I can spar with. That’s an advantage for me. Each time I spar, since it’s a different fighter, I get surprised and thrown off-guard by their style. We try to emulate real fight situations because in a fight, you never really know what to expect,” he shared.
