Johan Ghazali has to continue the fighting tradition

At just 17 years old, Ghazali has already done plenty to establish himself as a world-class striker with true championship-caliber talent and undeniable athletic gifts.

Indeed, “Jojo” has looked dominant in all five of his appearances in the world’s largest martial arts organization, boasting four spectacular knockouts.

He comes from a long line of fighters. Both of Ghazali’s parents were Muay Thai fighters and remain heavily involved in the sport. His grandfather was a Malaysian war hero, and his great-grandfather was a professional boxer in the early 20th century.

The youngster is inspired by his family heritage of fighting and feels that it’s only right that he keeps the tradition going.

While he’s certainly not looking past Tran Duy Nhat at ONE 167, Ghazali knows that a victory on June 7 could open up some exciting opportunities – namely, the chance to compete at one of ONE’s upcoming U.S. shows.

“Jojo” hopes for a blockbuster event

The organization is set to return to North America in September with ONE 168: Denver, then ONE 170 in Atlanta in November.

Ghazali hopes to earn a spot on one of those blockbuster events and compete in front of American fans and his extended family in the U.S.

“I want to continue making my family name proud, and I can get that done here, and maybe book a fight in the U.S. and continue flourishing there too in front of a new set of fans, and more importantly, my family, who have been wanting to watch me fight live for so long.”
