Liam Nolan is back in action this weekend, and he wants to put on a show no matter who he is going up against.

At ONE Fight Night 18: Gasanov vs. Oh this Friday, January 12, “Lethal” will face Ali Aliev in a lightweight Muay Thai contest inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

The English striker was preparing for undefeated French striker Theo Avon, but will now face a different newcomer in Aliev. That switch may have thrown some fighters off, but Nolan says there won’t be too much difference to his approach heading into fight night.

“Not really changed much in my approach,” he told ONE in an interview.

“Aliev is slightly taller than Avon, but I’m sticking to what I’ve worked on through and not really focus on what my opponent is going to do. Focusing on me is what has gotten me over so many bumps in the road over the last year, and I’m going to the same again.”

Aliev trains out of the streaking Team Mehdi Zatout and will be looking to make a statement in his promotional bow. The 2021 IFMA World Champion will have the opportunity of a lifetime on Friday as he steps into action against a star like Nolan in front of an audience of 190 countries.

For his part, “Lethal” remains confident that he can produce the same result despite a late change in opponent.

“I said it would be a bonus winning fight for Avon, and it will be the same against Aliev. It makes no difference,” Nolan said.

“It will be a bonus winning fight. I’m hitting so hard right now. The way I’ve been training, I’m going to put on a great great show.”

With the lightweight kickboxing and Muay Thai divisions firmly ruled by Regian Eersel, the door is wide open for potential challengers for “The Immortal.”

Considering this, scoring an impressive and decisive win this weekend will help Nolan put one foot in the door to shoot his shot at one of Eersel’s coveted straps.
