Both fighters are coming off wins in their last appearances, and they are certainly on top of their games right now. As such, Ramazanov believes that the winner should be the first choice to be the next challenger for the ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title.

“Definitely, this is a [top] contender fight. In general, we don’t have many fighters in ONE who have been performing at such a high level for so long, and so definitely, the winner will fight for the World Championship,” he said in an interview with ONE.

Two-sport titleholder and reigning bantamweight kickboxing king Jonathan “The General” Haggerty is currently busy preparing to defend the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title against “The Kicking Machine” Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE 168: Denver on Friday, September 6. Given this, an immediate shot at gold may not come for the winner of Ramazanov and Petchtanong’s clash this weekend.

Ramazanov targets Haggerty for championship showdown

Nonetheless, Haggerty remains in Ramazanov’s crosshairs, where he’s been for some time. In fact, the 29-year-old even took his chance to call the British brawler out right after he won the vacant bantamweight kickboxing crown at ONE Fight Night 16 in November 2023. He jumped into the ring to square off with “The General” that evening, which led to him getting a six-month suspension from the ONE Championship higher-ups for his actions.

Haggerty is Ramazanov’s immediate target after ONE Friday Fights 68 this weekend. But in the end, it makes no difference who holds the belt when it comes to him competing for it. “Of course, Haggerty is a very famous and very technical fighter. Many people know him. He is very famous in England and Thailand. And when you are sure that you can easily beat this guy, then you rightfully start demanding this fight,” he said.

He further added, “But it doesn’t matter who has the belt when I come for it. I’ll fight whoever has it, whether it’s Haggerty or another opponent.”
